Dying to Self

This is something someone gave me a long time ago that came up recently in a conversation. The friend I was talking with had been given the same thing a long time ago. It is and excellent resource for quiet time and prayer!

DYING TO SELF

When you are forgotten, or neglected, or purposely set at naught, and you don’t sting and hurt with the insult or the oversight, but your heart is happy , being counted worthy to suffer for Messiah,

THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When your good is spoken evil of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinions ridiculed and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart, or even defend yourself, but take it all in patient loving silence,

THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder, any irregularity, any impunctuality or any annoyance; when you can stand face to face with waste, folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility and endure it as Christ endured it,

THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When you are content with any food, any offering, any raiment, any climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the will of God,

THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When you do not care to refer to yourself in conversation or to record your own good works, or itch after commendation, when you can truly love to be unknown,

THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met and can honestly rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy nor question God, while your own needs are far greater and in desperate circumstances,

THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

When you can receive correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself, and can humbly submit inwardly as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment rising up within your heart,

THAT IS DYING TO SELF.

Are you dead yet?

In these last days, the Spirit would bring us to the Cross.

“ That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.” (Philippians 3 : 10)

In St. Louis Part 4

visiting with Grandpa and Grandma Street

And of course, when with grandparents, we must have stories!

In St. Louis Part 3

In St. Louis Part 2

We loved seeing the progress on Grandpa and Grandma's new house, but the highlight was of course the big tractor moving dirt around in the front yard!

Bethany had to get to know Grandpa all over again.

Bethany is going to town! She loved this little car and would have let me push her around the house for hours.

The girl cousins shared a bath the other night and got "pj-ed" together.
Bath time fun!! Of course, Bethany isn't laughing quite as much in the video as she was before I got out the camera, but you can get a little bit of her joy here. : )
